Well, my headline would have been, "Surprising no one at all, druggie gang-banger gets shot"
Probably wasn't enough space.

A 15-year-old who aspired to be a cartoonist but struggled with chemical dependency and had gang ties was shot in the head and died near an alley in north Minneapolis this weekend.
Michael A. Bluntson Jr., who was called "Tony" by his family, was identified on Saturday. He was found at the intersection of N. 6th Street and 25th Avenue shortly before 7 p.m. on Friday after police responded to a call about a shooting.
His mother, Doris Bluntson, who lives several blocks from where her son was shot, acknowledged Saturday night that he "had some gang involvement."
"I had a pretty good idea it was him," she said, even before police positively identified him as the victim. She said he had been shot in the face, which delayed identification.
She described her son as "quiet and laid-back" and artistic. "He wanted to be a cartoonist," she said.
"I was trying to get him into art school," she said of the oldest of her five children.
He had attended Edison High School but found school boring. "He was very smart, but he was not applying himself," she said.
He was attending a chemical dependency treatment program and living with his father in St. Louis Park when he was killed, his mother said. She last saw him on Thursday night.
Minneapolis police were investigating the shooting but did not release any information about the case. No one had been arrested.

Agreed.
I know it is rude to speak ill of the dead, but the this teenager was far from an angel. If he was not involved in drugs and gangs he probably would not be dead.
I also have to wonder what kind of criminal record this person has, and who else he would have victimized if he had not been shot and killed.

Another sad story of a wasted life.
At least his mother knew who her son was, none of "he was a good kid, he couldn't possibly be mixed up in all of that gang stuff"

It's very sad. Roughly fifteen years ago, this dead druggie gangbanger wannabe came into the world as none of that. Choices that he made, and others made, left him lying dead on a street.
And, worse: a druggie gangbanger wannabe could very easily have done a lot worse than get himself killed by, presumably, another gangbanger or wannabe.
What a fucking waste.

On the otherhand, perhaps he walked up on somebody and tried to rob them, for his effort he got shot in the face. Because the punk was spewwing gang this and hommie that, the person who legally defended themselves, in fear for their life, capped the little brother & being still afraid for their life and the life of their family and the potential for reprisal should their name end up in the paper . . . maybe chose not to stick around.

But hey, it is a lifestyle. . .. and he/they have a right to choose that lifestyle, no matter how deviant or destructive or potentially harmful to one’s health and the health of others that that lifestyle might be. .. . . but that is just the thug lifestyle, right.
