Surprised this story hasn't found itself posted here yet...those pesky guns that just go off for no reason!

He will blame the gun and one of his "peeps" that it was actually this guy's gun and it was defective. I bet it was a Glock  :D

Dave Hardy reports here http://armsandthelaw.com/archives/2008/11/problems_in_new.php on the penalty for unlicensed carry in NY and Mike Ditka's comments on football players and guns.

I am astounded by the stupidity.

He should claim that Heller overides the Sullivan act and be our guinea pig.

Well, if anyone can afford it, he can.

Well think about it,

He can claim risk and danger, as many athletes have been targeted in the past. He can claim that NYS/NYC clearly refuse to allow him to have personal protection, and that banning him, someone who lives one place, works out of another, and yet has significant travel on the job, that Heller is exactly the sort of ruling that allows him to carry for protection over and above state laws. Makes complete sense for me, and I would vote for acquittal if I was on his jury and that was the argument. If they came in with it's his brothers gun adn he was just holding it, I would vote to convict, but slap Heller on top of this, and its acquittal.

Yup. We need guys with deep pockets to take these cases where we can't afford to.

The cops reportedly recovered a .40 projectile from the room, and the speculation is that he was carrying a Glock.

I would speculate that perhaps he had not been carrying it in a holster. Glocks are known for many things; spontaneous ADs are not among them.

Burress was having drinks with friends, including Pierce, when the handgun started to slip down his pants, the New York Daily News said, citing unidentified people familiar with the situation. When he grabbed at the gun, it discharged.

Pierce tried to control the bleeding, while reprimanding Burress for carrying a weapon, the unidentified people told the newspaper.

ETA: Sorry Andrew, if it comes up again I'll make sure the modification shows up outside the quote.
