Man Charged With Pointing Gun At Kids' Heads

A man is in jail after he apparently shoved a woman, screamed at some children and then pointed a gun at their heads in Ramsey, Minn.

Police said Brian Mock, 30, has been charged with two counts of second degree assault, fifth degree assault and terroristic threats.

On May 16, officers were called to the area of 14200 Dysprosium Street Northwest on a call that a man with a gun was screaming at some children in the area.

Investigators found out that the three children were riding their bikes in their backyards when Mock came running down a path wanting to know who lit a fire in a garbage in the backyard at his home.

According to the police report, Mock said, "Which one of you mother f------ did it?" And he pointed a gun at a child's head and continued to ask them about the fire.

A woman approached the man and suggested he talk to the kids parents rather then confront the boys.

Mock said, "Listen you f------ b--ch, this isn't your business," and shoved her.

That woman could see that the kids were scared of the man and called police with a description of him.

Police determined that the man was Mock and went to his home, but he refused to come out.

His family was evacuated from the house and eventually the Anoka County SWAT team arrived. They saw Mock in the basement of the home cleaning a handgun.

When they made telephone contact he threatened to kill himself but eventually agreed to leave the house and was taken into custody.

Mock's wife said he had been drinking all day and was stressed out due to financial issues.

He is in custody in the Anoka County Jail.

Wow... had I been in the park I would have rightly thought that my life, and the lives of the children were in great peril. If it was me by myself I'd consider evacuation, but with the children there I'd be hard pressed to run away.

I think the children are lucky they didn't get shot, and the 'alleged' jack-ass <s>is lucky</s> should be glad he didn't get shot.

I don't know if that would've made her a reluctant participant.. At least I wouldn't want to be the one paying the legal bills to argue that point..

If you've reason to believe that your children are in danger and being threatened with deadly force, why would the reluctant participant issue be raised?
Obviously you have a duty to retreat but it doesn't mean you have to leave your children under a drunkard's gun. It doesn't sound like this guy was going to let the woman move those children out of there. It sounds like she tried.

If someone was pointing a gun at my children, the first though to cross my mind would not be the size of my legal bills.

Shouldn't this cover it:
