And the thing is, now he knows it was loaded but he still doesn't know if it is loaded. Might need, like, eight more trips to the hospital to find out.

Typical noob mistake. You are supposed to use your finger tip to plug the barrel so the gasses can't escape. He used his flat palm and that's why it didn't work.

I use a cork in the barrel to keep the gun juice in.
