I just want to say that I don't know what to say.
I guess I'm grateful to be white and living in the suburbs.

Thank you for the non sequitor of the moment.
I'm grateful that I don't own a successful business which the local hooligans have chosen to congregate at. Bobby and Steve's is great for service. You can drop your car off until 11pm at the Columbia Heights location and have it serviced early the next day.
You could be charteuse and living in the middle of a lake and you'd be safer than happening to stop anywhere a large group of hooligans has decided to hang out.
Didn't your parents tell you if you have nothing useful to say to say nothing at all? (I know, Pot meet Kettle).

I guess I'm grateful to be white and living in the suburbs. Free advice: when you -- and I mean you -- don't know what to say, experience shows that it's better not to say anything.
Sheesh. I mean, well, sheesh.
That said, if you want to see how far you can push before the (metaphorical) axe comes down, keep it up.
Consider this a gentle, public admonishment.

If I don't have something nice to say, I don't say something nice.

It's not that it wasn't nice, it's that it added nothing to the discussion and looks marginally racist / elitist. Being Black was not the uissue here nor was living in the city. The victim may not be a nun or a saint but no one deserves to get shot.
Further, no business, neighborhood, or resident deserves to have to put up with this kind of harassment and the environment / culture it entails.

That's an interesting statement I never expected to find on this, or any, carry forum.

No one deserves to get shot. Yep, you heard it here... I am not Judge, Jury, nor Executioner. There may be a situation someday (heaven forbid) where as a last resort and since I DESERVE TO LIVE, I am FORCED to shoot someone to stop them from inflicting GBH / Death on me.
In that case, Did they deserve to get shot? hmmm.... No ... But they needed to get shot so their victim could live.
Perhaps my phrasing was poor But I feel confident that many people here understood my intent.

What's wrong with being grateful for being statistically less-likely to be the victim of a senseless crime?

macphisto wrote: What's wrong with being grateful for being statistically less-likely to be the victim of a senseless crime? Politically Correct. Quote: I guess I'm grateful to be white and living in the suburbs. Racist.
It's never what you say, it's always how you say it. Racist comments will hurt us all. It paints all pro-gunners with the same brush. Pro-gunners already have to overcome the racist stigma.
Someone who is good with words (like Joel) could tell you to f-off and take a flying leap off a bridge, but he could do so with words that would actually make you thank him.

Do yourself a favor and don't answer the above rhetorical question; you're a very small misjudgment away from the above-hinted vacation. If you're going to take one, I think you'll be better off doing it on your own hook than my help.

TCcarry whipping boy, here.
Geez, where's the UNDO button when you need it?
I am always wrong, even when I'm right.
I'm going to stop digging now.
I'll try again tomorrow with a "Practice Draw in Post Office" thread.

It seems to me that you have missed a significant point here, this is a community, a group that has come together for a purpose and in many ways your choice of words/phrasing act in a manner contrary to that goal. This is why you are often criticised.
You may want to take so advice I often received as a child, "Engage your brain before you engage your mouth." I cannot imagine that you are as obtuse as your posts make it seem.
If you are indeed the "whipping boy" this is due to your own actions on this forum, you need to look at how/what you post, then compare it to others here. I see many differing opinions expressed in a respectful and open manner, I am just about the last person who can be accused of being politically correct but, you often make your points in a way that is offensive to me and apparently to others as well.
Take it for what its worth, just my .02.
