Why don't these have the orange muzzle?

Because they're not toys. They're intended to be used for actual shooting. The orange muzzle thing is for toys that can't shoot, or only shoot harmless darts. These shoot real projectiles at real velocities.
I identify with the bleeding liberal camp more often than not. But if anyone is stupid enough to think it's a good idea to carry one of these around in public, then they're better off not being in the gene pool and I can't see blaming any cop or carry holder that reacts appropriately when they see someone flashing a gun around.

Okay, this made me laugh:
Three days later, an officer spotted a 12-year-old boy riding a bicycle with what looked like an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle slung across his back.
The officer stopped the boy, who said he was going to the woods for target practice. The boy got a citation for disorderly conduct, and police contacted his mother.
Doesn't everyone ride around with an AR strapped to their back?

My son's airsoft pistol has the orange muzzle. At least I think it's an airsoft- it shoots those yellow round plastic bb's. Other than that puny red/orange thing, you'd never be able to tell under stress or at a distance that it wasn't a real gun. Under stress, I could see missing the orange bit.
I have an air pistol that shoots darts and .17cal pellets- at a glance it looks exactly like a mil spec 1911. No orange muzzle on this one.
Anyone stupid enough to brandish something like this is risking their life.

From the article:
Manufacturers of fakes are required to mark the tip or barrel with red or orange, but teens have taken to blacking out those marks, Police Chief Clark Quiring said.

I've got a couple of Crossman BB gun pistols that aren't marked at all.
I don't know how they can get away with not marking these. I've also seen "replicas" that look even more like the real deal.

I believe that only fakes, including maybe airsoft, are required to be marked. BB and pellet guns aren't.

I've yet to see a "marked" bb/pellet pistol.

Pellet Pistol is a real gun, just like a small knife is a real knife. They can cause serious harm. It would be wrong to mark it as a toy.

My father is a retired principle and had taken away lots of knifes and pellet guns from kids. One pulled a pellet handgun on my father in a school bus when the kid was showing it to everyone. He snatched the gun in one hand and carried the kid in the other hand. "Officer friendly" was called and the kid was in Juvie for about a month.
They all got handed over to me to shoot with!

Does anyone train to look for the orange hunk of plastic? I don't.
Heck I don't like having blue training pistols pointed at me.

I think that the picture is for demonstration purposes ... If YOU saw this exact view (complete with the trigger finger), would YOU think it was a toy?
all a toy which looks like a deadly weapon.
The same could have been accomplished without the booger finger on the bang switch but the picture would have lost some of its shock value.

Whereas we would never do this - placing the trigger finger on the bang switch - this was meant to add emphasis I think....
If you saw that pointed in your general direction - the questions would be - what would you do? I think that answer is obvious.
I do not relish the thought of encountering some little kid withone of these trying to harm my family...
Can you see the headlines?
Armed Citizen Shoots and Kills Child with a toy gun...
YIKES....
I feel that there is no difference between this and real gun for all intents and purposes. I fear that the results would be the same.
