Does anyone have their instructions for a Doskosport "Gun Guard" gun safe? I can't find mine.

What is the default access code? (This is the one with 4 electronic buttons - 1,2,3,4)

I went to change the batteries (8 AA's) in it, and it's evidently lost the setting I put in, so I can't get it back open. Thankfully, there's nothing in there at the moment.

No, my instructions aren't in the safe.

But they're not filed away anywhere that I can find either.

Try 12341. It's the default setting on many 4-button safes.

Long, long ago I was a bank safe guy, setting combinations, cleaning timelock movements, etc. At the time there were very few electronic keypad locks, so I can't be helpful to you there. One thing I did learn very quickly though, is to never do ANY work on the locking mechanism with the door closed, and to test and retest the proper opening procedure before ever closing the door. In this case, having the door open before the battery change may have helpful- at least it's open.

That said, if the battery died before you could get it open, bummer!

Good luck!

Is there key access? If you don't have the key, a locksmith could pick it very quickly.

Very important: Breath!

Try things slowly, TRY DIFFERENT BATTERIES!

Did you happen to check their web site? Soemtimes you can download an instruction manual. http://doskosport.com/Catalog.plx?Page=ContactUs
Didn't see anything about the lock, but it did have a contact number. 1-888-707-7678. Good luck,

I forgot the spin dial combo to the big safe for about a week once. Yes I had the numbers in the safe. I had to take about 10 minutes till I figured out the second number needed to go up by one.

Not much slop in the dial which is good.

Okay, they were able to give me the default code. And it does get reset whenever you change the batteries.

In case this ever happens to me again, I'm writing it down here  412231

Isn't that kind of a security problem? Take the batteries out and then a robber knows the code?

No security problem...the batteries are on the inside. There's a 9 volt "spot" on the outside that you can use to power it if the batteries are totally dead.
