http://www.kstp.com/article/stories/S12449.html?cat=1 I started thinking of the first Indiana Jones movie when he crosses paths with a swordsman who puts on a show and Jones just reaches in his holster, pulls out his revolver and drops him.

Geek trivia:

That scene was written in at the last minute; Harrison Ford had a bad case of the runs and was afraid more vigorous activity would have led to, well, a need for a wardrobe change!

Ha! I didn't know that. That's my favorite scene in the movie and one of my favorites from any movie, the way he deals with a whole posse of bad guys, all that punching and kicking and bullwhip-wielding and then finally has an expression that says, "oh, screw this." and draws his revolver.

There was a case a few years ago in St. Paul that reminded me of that scene. A detective hired for security at some bar got into it with a bunch of guys and was laying them out left and right with his Asp baton. One guy went out and got his gun, came back and, at that point, the detective drew his pistol and put the guy down.

Anyone remember the Rockford Files show?
One scene that still crack me up is Rockford is walking down the street, and some martial arts guy comes jumping from out of nowhere, and starts those karate moves on him- flailing his arms and kicking his legs, and such, but no body contact thus far.
Rockford says something like "Karate is based on the ridiculous assumption that people fight fair". He then kicks the karate guy right in the crotch, and the guy goes down in a heap. Rockford just keeps right on walking.
