A lot of tangnets for this one. But facts don't lie.

Hmmm, that's a really odd article coming from the Strib. I would have expected a leftist slant or something.

I Love this part
<snip>

Other local music promoters said time delays could be an accelerant to violence.

"We're always cognizant of getting the artist on and off stage in a timely matter," said Tim Nelson, owner of Urban Lights record store in St. Paul and co-promoter of last month's Tony Yayo concert and Sunday's show by Akon at Myth nightclub in Maplewood.

"The longer people stand around and drink, the more likely it is they're going to run into somebody they have a problem with <snip>

Does any one remember Elvis, Sinatra, or others of this era having concerts with these problems?

Other than a few notable exceptions, like the Hells Angels violence at Altamont in the late 1960's, and someone getting trampled to death at a Who concert in the 1970's in Ohio, and possibly a few other rare happenings, this violence at concerts is pretty much isolated to rap.
Look at the lifestyle it glamorizes- gangs, violence against women, etc...
And the crud that it attracts. Can't walk the streets, ride a bus, sit in your table and do homework, run a small bookstore, or otherwise live peacefully without these thugs threatining our lives.
Those who know I have a carry permit still occasionally ask me why I feel the need to carry, and I ask them in return why they feel the need not to.

The Who concert death was accidental; nobody intended any violence. The concert was in a large arena with no reserved seating. When the doors opened, people ran for the front, and some were trampled.
