They can only enforce it on Chicago cops. But being in a smart ass mood I emailed the President of the Fraternal Order of Police of Chicago http://www.chicagofop.org/ and asked why do the need guns. Just call 911 like a good citizen.

Actually, I think it's a good thing. If Chicago is going to screw over the serfs, the cops should be right there with the serfs when they retire. Heck, the current cops should have to leave their duty weapons at the station when the shift is over.
