Kinda saw that one coming. My takeaway: "Don't shoot nice little kids in head." I don't know that I needed a video to pick up on that; I don't think it's part of the advanced course.

Anybody else notice they put the watermelon up just before the little black kid? Coincidence? Freudian subconscious in action?

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. That said, there's rather a lot of not-exactly-subtle racism in much (not all) liberal political treatment of black folks, and it comes out incredibly clearly around gun issues.

OK, so I did a little research.

The ad was done by a famous UK-based advertising firm for showing on terrestrial and cable channels in Britain. It was commissioned as a public information ad by a hiphop radio station - Choice FM.

I'd imagine that any wannabe gangsta in the UK will just see this as more encouragement to go out and buy a gun.

Comments by the ad's creator(s) can be found below.

Oh, and the soundtrack is Casta Diva composed by Bellini. And the caliber of the firearm used is, apparently, a surprisingly modest .22. I am surprised to see it unzipping a watermelon, but those more knowledgeable than I are welcome to correct me.

It did look like a big bullet. But the people who made the film seemed to think that it was a .22, and I figured they ought to know.

Of course, I should have known better.

I guess that I don't quite trust anti-gun people to stick to facts and actual information, especially on the internet.................
but then again, what do I know - I'm on the internet............... :P

Looks like they got a hold of a ballistics demo, then threw in the kid at the end to make their message sensational.

The lengthwise traverse of the water bottle and the watermelon were fantastic images. The whole series of impacts was rather good.
