I spoke to a woman last night who said she was going to shoot some at Bill's with another person, cept they decided not to... She stated that someone apparently decided to "off" themselves with a rental so apparently there was a "mess" to cleanup...

I didn't see anything about it in the PP today - anyone else hear about this?

Nothing in the paper?

Any solid ideas as to why he did this to himself?

Seems it was a suicide attempt. Sadly I have known too may people over the years that went out that way (family, friends, acquaintances). The mechanism of their demise ran the gambit, gun, cutting, pills, car exhaust, hanging, driving head-on into oncoming traffic, driving into a bridge abutment, etc..

When you can see it in someone that they are self destructive you may have a chance to intervene. I think however that many times you just don’t see it coming.

I pray for the one involved here. Unfortunately even if he recovers he will probably never be the same, and the likelihood that he may attempt to do himself in again is pretty high.

When I lost a friend I was told that women attempt suicide more often, but men commit suicide more.

So, sadly I am afraid you may be correct.

Tears and prayers to the family.

It just so hard to imagine what pain a person is dealing with that they take suicide as an end. I acutally new a guy (switchman) who worked for the railroad that threw himself under the train. Worse yet it was a close friend of mine that was the train Engineer. He did not have a clue anything had happened until the Mpls. police stopped his train several miles from where the incident happened. About all any of us are left with is faith and prayer.
