Holmes County Sheriff’s Deputy accidentally shoots self
Staff Reports

BERLIN — Sergeant Wade Johnson, a 17 year veteran of the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, was hospitalized Sunday morning after accidentally shooting himself.

Johnson was responding to a call at a Burger King near Berlin when the incident occurred. According to the sheriff’s office, they believe Johnson was removing or repositioning his secondary weapon, a 9 MM handgun, after arriving on the scene and it discharged. The bullet passed through his abdominal area and lodged in his pelvis.

Johnson was transported from the scene by East Holmes EMS to Pomerene Hospital and from there transported to Akron General Hospital. Akron had him listed in serious but stable condition Sunday and were awaiting the results of tests to determine a further course of treatment.
According to the sheriff’s office, the hospital stated that no abdominal organs were hit and the bullet struck the iliac crest area of the pelvis.

The incident is still under investigation by sheriff’s deputies.

Just a reminder we always have to be careful.....even a 17yr LEO makes mistakes!

Thats gotta hurt, sorry but a 9mm to the pelvis probably means a lifetime limp and pain.

I think that's called "Glock leg" in law enforcement circles.
