I took the kids to the fair last night to see the Rodeo. We had some time to look around before it started, and I was suprised to see "Olmsted County Fair Board bans handguns in these premises" near the entrances to some of the exhibit buildings. I guess I figured that the fair sits in Graham Park, was public property, and so couldn't be posted. Maybe some of the buildings have a different status, because they weren't all posted. The fairgrounds itself wasn't posted, and neither was the grandstand. In fact the only place I was interested in that was posted was the Fish and Wildlife Conservation building. I saw the signs on the commercial exhibit building, the arts and crafts building, and the beer garden too.

My initial thoughts are, "Aww, ain't that cute, they think they can do something" and then would proceed to walk right by. Followed by a letter explaining that government assclowns can't post.
