Scoreboard Bar & Grill 5765 Sanibel Dr Minnetonka, MN 55343 952-935-6537 Posted near at least one door with a cheesy sign affiliated with the Rake magazine. I was going to take picture of it but forgot to. There's really no reason to go to this place anyway. It's over priced and not very good. |

We have dinner there a few times a year and I have never noticed any signage. Guess I will need to look a little harder next time. RTK |

RTK This was not by the main door, but by the door to the patio, past the bar. I suppose I should say my critique of the food was based only on one entree, an italian chicken sandwich. That and a Surly brown ale came to $16. |

Sent an email and got the response that is typical of a Posted Victim Disarmament Zone. Dear Pete, I am sorry that you and others feel that way. However, unless we ask every person entering our establishment to show us their permit and background check information how could we be certain that the person showing up with a firearm is not a hazard? We would rather not put ourselves and other patrons at risk. I am sure you are well aware that there are people who carry firearms that do not have them licensed and who are not safe people. By posting a sign saying we do not allow them, we deter possible incidences that could be life-threatening to others. Again, I am sorry that you feel you can not visit our establishment anymore but this is not something we can change our policy on. Sincerely, Manager at Scoreboard Bar and Grill > To Whom it May Concern, > I have become aware of your restaurants policy on banning of handguns on > your premises and will no longer patronize your establishment to comply > with your wishes. As a Permit Carrier, I have had background checks > performed by the State of Minnesota, have passed mandatory training in the > use of firearms and applicable MN laws, have never been convicted of > domestic violence, have no history of drug addiction, and have no felony > convictions, as do ALL other permit holders. Can you say the same of the > rest of your clientele on a daily basis? > Your business has been discussed within the community of over 60,000 > permit holders as being a place where our patronage is not welcome, and > quite frankly, in this tough economy, can you afford to alienate a group > of law abiding citizens that large? > > I don't think it would matter to tell them that criminals WILL NOT obey their silly ass signage. |

Hmmm, perhaps a note thanking him for his response, and that there are instructors who will make their wishes known to students (I'm seriously thinking about putting together a list of known signed businesses as a "convenience" for my students). Left to my own devices, I'd respond that he may want to change the wording to "No muthafucking Glock Fortahs allowed", so the gangbangers can sound it out. That's probably why I'm not left to my own devices that often. -Mark |

There are many other places that would be more than welcome to take my money. RTK |

My Glock fortah (22) is sitting in my bedroom right now. -Mark |

It's been about ten years since I've been there. It wasn't memorable one way or the other. I would rather go to the Schlotzky's at the Sundial Center, even though they don't serve beer. I don't want to trust somebody as clueless as that manager to supervise the preparation of my food. He/she might think posting a sign banning E. coli and Salmonella is sufficient to prevent food poisoning. |

Just received this response: Quote: Dear Bryan, First of all you are not mistaken of our policy. And second of all, I am sorry that you feel this way. I am wondering however, if you can please provide me with a list of establishments that serve alcohol that do allow you to bring your firearm in the place with you. I am curious to know where you and the other 60,000 people that you speak of dine out at. I, myself, along with others here are not aware of any establishment that serves alcohol that will allow you to bring it. Also, I am curious to know what you do when you have to attend the bank or the doctor or your children's school? These places do not allow firearms as well. I understand the law and your right to own and carry a gun, but I am curious to know why you would feel the need to bring it to dinner with you anyway. Again, I am sorry that you feel you won't be able to visit our establishment but this is a policy we will not change. Thank you, Manager at Scoreboard. I responded back refuting his points. Enjoy - b |

Enjoy - b Some folks just don't get it. Could you post your letters and responses? I think it might be helpful for those of us who are trying to help those that just don't understand why signs really don't do anything to foster intelligent, conscious, logical decisions regarding their policy. |
