Hauled a load of new cans over to Del Monte in Sleepy Eye yesterday morning. Reloaded canned corn to take to a warehouse in Wells MN. Good thing I decided against OC and was wearing a button down shirt over my t-shirt. I didn't see the signs when I got to Del Monte at 5 am. Signs are posted about every 150'-200' on the fence surrounding their complex.

I wonder how they would react if you refused to deliver the cans onto their property and just left them in the driveway. :) I suppose you could only do that if you ran your own business though.

Well, I honestly don't know what would happen except that my employer would probably NOT get paid for dragging the load over from Plover WI., and I'd be at home on the computer e-filing my new unemployment claim.

As for an Owner Operator doing that, pretty much the same thing except that (if he were leased to a carrier), they'd most likely terminate the lease immediately (after bouncing the truck to their yard so they wouldn't have to spend $$$ chasing after their trailer).

Do you know what all is canned there?
Anyone want to write a letter to corporate marketing asking them why they are putting their employees and visitors at risk? Might want to add that about 64,000 customers changing brands.

As far as I know, just corn & peas. Could be other veggies too, but I don't know. We used to haul a lot of loads outta there to their huge facility in Rochelle IL.

Oh, generally when I order things that need to be transported I need to have a cleared delivery area that's readily accessible. If the driver has any problems delivering, including the fact he might be armed, they'll generally dump the load in any open area.

Here are Del Monte's brands:
