There is an open carry rally and picnic that will take place this Sunday, 5/17/09 from 11am to 3:30pm in Onalaska, WI (a suburb of La Crosse).

I'm attending, as is nmat.

The organizers are truly going about this the right way. They have informed (and gotten promises of non-interference from) the La Crosse County Sheriff.

There will almost CERTAINLY be media coverage, so if any of our more activism-oriented members would care to make the trek with us, you'd be more than welcome. If you just want to come and show support for our badger brethren, you're more than welcome as well. I'm bringing my friendliest media face, just in case someone would like to talk. 8)

A few things of note. Remember that you MAY NOT carry concealed in Wisconsin, nor may you carry in any fashion (open or concealed) in your car. You will be subject to arrest if you do either one of those. If you're going to go, you must have it cased and unloaded (and in the trunk would be a REALLY good idea). There is a list of rule reminders in the THR thread. Don't even open the case until you are clear of your car. Silly little rules to us, but they are ones that could land you in jail.
