The Twin Cities Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society invites you to the 28th annual RGS Banquet. Please forward this e-mail to other hunters you know.

What: 28th Twin Cities RGS Banquet

Where: Earle Brown Heritage Center - 6155 Earle Brown Drive, Minneapolis (Hwy 100 & 694)

When: Tuesday August 29th. Doors & silent auction begin at 5:30 PM. Dinner begins at 7:30PM.

Why: Buy and win cool stuff (last year more than 8 people walked away with a gun). Learn about and raise money to benefit grouse habitat management and education.

How: Single dinner with membership $65. Sponsorships include a chance at a Sponsor gun raffle. One gun will be raffled for every 10 Sponsors. To register, please visit our website at www.twincitiesrgs.com . Download form and mail per the instructions.

Fixed - sorry - just cut n' pasted it from e-mail and corrected the word "registeration".

I can't make it that night, but the odds of winning a gun might be pretty good. This is a new location for them and it hasn't been well publicized.

Thanks for the link, Dean. I’ll put it on my calendar.

BTW I haven’t heard a grouse drumming up north in many years. I know that the population goes through regular cycles (12 or 13 years?), but there just doesn’t seem to be the number of birds as there were back in the 70’s and early 80’s. In contrast, the pheasant and even turkey populations have really increased.

Any idea what has knocked down the grouse?

The counts have been getting better. We had a really bad army worm infestation a few years back which has something to do with grouse. Also many wet, cold Springs which screws up the eggs.
