Armed lawmaker stopped by police in Highland Park Thomas Hackbarth, 58, was stopped in his car on Nov. 16 after a security guard saw him with a gun in the parking lot about 5 p.m., an hour after the clinic closed. Police ordered him out of his car at gunpoint and handcuffed and questioned him before taking his gun and letting him go. Does anyone know any more details about this incident? Specifically:
In the article, Hackbarth is very magnanimous. I, too, understand why the security guard would call the cops but I don't understand why the cops took Hackbarth's gun. If he's legally carrying it, they should give it back to him and leave him be. Thoughts? |

The gun was clearly visible when he removed his coat. I think the concern was he was stalking this woman, and that's why they took his gun. I believe the story and video is on WCCO. Maybe someone can find the story and post it here. I'm not that good at such things. |
