Two questions, probably wrong forum for both:

How much will it cost for an out of stater to get a Minnesota carry permit?

I have 4 permits now one from Utah and one from Az.

On a visit to Minnesota last weekend I realized my permits were in my other wallet. Does the fact that I have the Utah permit and will be able to present it - eventually - get me off the hook for not having it in my immediate possession, and will I likely lose my gun if checked?

Thanks and sorry if I'm in the wrong forum.

Same as for a Minnesotan.

Wow! That was quick!

Thanks Joel.

I thought some counties were ah . . . a bit more in line with true cost for permits than others.

Which counties are the most reasonable?

Washington county is the closest to the cities. You can look at the BCA report to figure which counties are closer and then start calling ... or you could just drive over to Washington County and give a good, service oriented dept your money.

Washington, in the metro; Otter Tail, if you want to take a drive.

I felt pretty nekkid all weekend. I usually carry 24/7. I was visiting in New Hope.

I will be back in three weeks but probably tied up the whole weekend. I really want to get the Minnesota carry permit but more I want to get very clear on the law - competing permits makes for a bit of confusion.

eg one of my permits does not allow me to be within 1000 feet of a school so driving by is a question and the blood bank is across the street. Az allows you to be on the sidewalk walking by but not on the property with a bunch of exceptions for securing your firearm in the trunk and picking up and dropping off your kids.

Thanks all for the help. I really appreciate it.

Are you saying that your permit has it's own restrictions? I think you are thinking about the state the permit is from. Each state has it's own laws.

In Iowa you can not be within 1000 feet of a school, just like a drug dealer.

No test case for inadvertent violation so far as I know. My Iowa instructor claimed that my permit makes me an, "unless otherwise authorized",

Every state has its own laws which can get confusing at times. Which is why I want to take the Minnesota class for ptc.

Regardless of the issuing state's rules, while carrying in Minnesota, you carry by Minnesota law, even if you are carrying on a UT permit.

3 weeks? I've got a class on the 31st if you have the time.
