Does anyone have any experience carrying on one or the other paddle boats run by the Padelford company out of St. Paul? We're going to a wedding on one of them soon, and I was thinking about wearing my shoulder holster vs. my IWB. Any thoughts on issues I should consider?

I've been on them a few times. No problems. Not posted.

I didn't carry 25 years ago when I got married on the Jonathan Padelford, but they're having a 40th anniversary free cruise soon for couples that got married aboard, and I'll be carrying for that. 'Cause ya never know when ya might be confronted by pirates!

I've carried on the boats as well without issue. I don't recall seeing any postings either.

I highly doubt that you would see any pirates on the Mississippi or Minnesota rivers. Most of them occupy their time driving taxi's at the airport and refusing rides to those that might have alcohol in or about themselves, or those who might be bringing along a seeing eye dog.

A guy I used to work with had a cab driver refuse to stop at the liquor store. The cab company apologized, and from then on the cab that picked him up was pretty much always driven by a Russian.

"For every bottle of liquor they won't drink, I will drink two!"

- Andrew, who has lots of Russian blood, and used to drive a cab

So, I can carry on the boats, but if I want the cabbie to stop at a liquor store on the way, he'd better be a Russian, right?

Exactly. But don't worry, there's a bar on the boat. (Just remember the point-oh-four!)

I've been on that one boat that they use as a theater for plays. No problems, not like they are going to wand anyone ... though the concept seems appealing to me today for some reason.

You could always ask... Maybe an instructor wouldn't mind offering a free class to the captain? Wouldn't want terrorists to take over the paddleford.

We went to the wedding. I decided to pocket carry my Taurus M905 revolver. No issues. No pirates. Gorgeous afternoon for a float on the river. The only problem I have is that I can't arm myself until I cross the St. Croix into Minnesota, and I have to disarm before I go back.
