I too would encourage searching through previous threads on the OC discussion. I think you'll find considerable and varied opinions on the subject, both tactical, and relative to the political implications. At the end of the day each of us will determine whether it is prudent to OC at any given time. Certainly its not a "one size fits all" type of thing. I OC occasionally, but rarely. For others OC is a more common mode for them. We gather as a group from time to time and OC as a part of the function. Watch the board for announcements and join us if you desire.

A snowmobiler driving under control, under or at the speed limits, abiding by all laws, and watching out for other traffic is more akin to someone open carrying.

At church (in a fairly liberal denomination) CZ Rami tucked in a SideGuard tuckable is just the right thing & that is pretty reasonable for MOA too. EFFEN breakfast at the Gopher my Ruger Alaskan in Simply Rugged loaded pancake would be entirely appropriate open carried and that same rig runs to Baby's R US and Target under an untucked & unbuttoned collared shirt (semi discrete. . . the third option) just fine. I'm also not inclined to bother with cover garment while walking my baby girl around the block regardless of what I carry. Which pistol and what level of cover seems to me something best decided based on where I am going. I don't want to be shoehorned into one camp or another. I can't support open carry all the time everywhere, but I'd be loathe to restrict myself to living the carry lifestsyle as if we had Texas style law (where printing is a prosecutable offense). Of course, before MN I lived and carried in PA. PA law, was interesting in that anyone eligible to possess firearms may open carry a pistol, a permit is only required if you want to conceal it. So my introduction to permits was in an environment where I wanted to get the permit so I'd be within the law if my firearms was inadvertently covered & mostly at that point I was carrying because I lived 20 mins down a beautiful twisty road from a free gun range & hopping on the motorcycle, going the long way, doing some shooting and tearing up the twisty on the way home was a mighty fine way to spend an afternoon. Open carry on the bike is no big deal but what if I want to wear a jacket. . . . was what inspired me to get my first permit. So, that is where I am coming from on this issue.
