The highlighting is mine: Quote: Dear Pat,
The gun lobby wants to nationalize the worst concealed carry laws in the country! Call Sens. Amy Klobuchar at (202) 224-3244 and Al Franken at (202) 224-5641 to vote NO on S. 845/HR 1620. This bill is an outrageous effort to force states to honor the concealed carry permits of the states with the worst laws. It would allow unqualified people to carry loaded pistols in Minnesota and hinder police efforts to stop interstate gun trafficking. The Senate vote could happen any day!
Call Sen. Klobuchar and Sen. Franken today! Don't let the gun lobby slip this under the radar!
With one click here, you can also email your Senators and Representatives!
Thank you for all you do,
Heather Martens Citizens for a Safer Minnesota
More about S. 845/H.R. 1620:
South Carolina doesn't give carry permits to Ku Klux Klan members -- but would have to honor permits from Mississippi, where Klan members can get permits. States that forbid convicted stalkers from getting concealed carry permits would have to let the convicted stalkers from other states carry loaded guns.
Minnesota currently does not honor the carry permits from 30 other states - but would be forced to do so under this bill.
Permit holders were supposed to stop crime; instead, they are committing crimes.
Richard Poplawski, a carry permit holder in Pennsylvania, murdered three and wounded two police officers in Pittsburgh in April.
Michael McLendon, who massacred 10 people in Alabama in March, was licensed to carry a pistol. Nevermind that fact that the murders were carried out with a rifle so his permit had no bearing on the issue Quote: Here in Minnesota, hundreds of carry permit holders have been convicted of crimes, including murder and assault. The threat of violence by permit holders has touched the lives of strangers. At a Wal-Mart in Coon Rapids, a carry permit holder pulled a gun on a mother and her children over a parking space. At an Apple Valley bank in May of this year, a permit holder threatened bank staff with bringing a gun to the bank and using it. The number of reported self-defensive uses of pistols by Minnesota carry permit holders is zero. For more information, visit www.endgunviolence.com. WOW....such outright lies....

Yeah, the convicted stalker thing just kinda glares. I was pretty sure that was a federal thing, like line H of the 4473. I thought the grounds for denying or revoking a carry permit usually pretty much mirrored the requirements for getting a 4473 accepted.

It appears that Heather Marten is not only capable of drastically distorting truth, she is also qualified to create bullshit from whole cloth.

The BB has posted this BS on Opposing Views as well. What garbage.

She must be getting desperate...far more outright lies in this release than usual. I've got no time for her. All she gets from me when I see her at a gathering is a withering glare, because my flipping her the bird and calling her a lying bitch would only cause her to run to the media. -Mark

It would allow unqualified people to carry loaded pistols in Minnesota
I think Heather just admitted that persons with a Mn permit to carry are QUALIFIED !

Nope, no flaming for that question. She's the Executive Director and Chief Chicken Little of Citizens for a Safer (GAG COUGH) Minnesota. I'm not going to provide their link here and give them any more Google help than necessary. You can Google them, they'll come right up. Excuse me, I need to go wash after typing that organization's name now. -Mark

While this bill may be beneficial to us, I am not in favor of it simply because it is imposing federal regulation on a state issue... Beneficial to RKBA, but harmful to state liberties. I'm weary of Federal imposing any regulation on what should be handled at a state level, especially when the RKBA comes into play.

You're absolutely right, of course. The correct remedy would be to remove the states ability to restrict our 2A rights altogether. We don't allow states to restrict our 1A rights, after all.
