This cannot be an OSHA violation because we are not Bill's employees. It may be a health code violation or perhaps they just don't care to clean up messes left by people, I can't say. But it is most certainly not an OSHA violation. Customers are not governed by OSHA, only those having an employer/employee relationship. It may very well remain Bill's rule and that is fine, but to state that it is an OSHA for us violation is just wrong.

I agree. I'm guessing you'll agree that the rule is a good idea regardless. Totally aside from the ingesting-chemicals issue, when I'm in the range I don't want anybody around me slipping in puddles of Coke or snatching for their spilling frappuccino with their Glock in their hand.

People I'm sorry but your gun stays in it's holster or its bag unless you are on the range with the gun pointed safely downrange. Want to show a gun to someone or adjust the holster, etc, go onto the range. Another alternative, with permission from a range employee, use the conference room, with the gun pointed at the concrete blockwall.

I wonder if some folks may have gotten this bad habit from a lack of enforcement of this rule at Bill's in Robbinsdale. The rule was prominently displayed on a sign on the counter but seemed to be ignored by some of the 'old timers' who were friendly with the staff. This was usually after a league with few or no strangers present; maybe they're more strict about it other times.

So true.

Safety nagging is one of the non-fun parts that the rest of us are just too chicken/selfish/busy/lazy to do, so thanks for doing it, Bob.

Pat, I have Zero problems with the rule itself. It does make a certain amount of sense, all in all. And I totally agree with your line of thinking about spills, etc.

Secondly, yes, I think that you're right on with your follow-up post, too.

Kay and I will no longer doing the programming, announcing, and scoring for the DHL. We did enjoy it quite a lot but we just can’t do it anymore.

If anyone needs scores or anything please feel free to email me.

We'll have matches Wednesdays 2/22, 3/8 and 3/22 as previously announced at the usual times, 6:00pm to 8:00pm. As noted earlier I am not able to continue the League after March. Other interested and qualified persons can certainly talk to Bill's management about continuing the league. However, at least 1/2 of our shooters are USPSA/IDPA shooters who will also return to outdoor shooting in March and April.

The Twin Cities IDPA website is currently down but will be rebuilt and return. Please look on this forum for updates on the League and on Bill's website under Leagues for match scores and under Forums for other details.

Go Tom!

And... holy crap, don't anybody ever mess with Officer Villamor, eh?

And also, everybody please notice that I have the high score in terms of "Score Earned" -- since I'm, apparently, the only person who shot 8 round strings who chose to write down his score [I saw on the squad signup sheet that at least other 2 people had signed up as loading 8 rounds; I guess they were called away by some emergency and didn't have time to actually shoot, or maybe just to write down their score ;)] So, I win!

Oh here's a suggestion: the sign sheet should have one more column for 'shooter notes' [not to say "excuses"] like, "really hung over", "my front sight fell off", "new gun", etc.

Anyway thanks again Bob & everybody, that was cool.

My thanks in advance to Keith Cekalla and Brian Thinnes for being the Match Director next week when I'm on vacation.

Also, you'll notice we picked up the pace on this COF.

Our last match of the year will be March 22. More details are coming but a catered dinner from Famous Dave's will be delivered if we have at least 10 shooters who will commit in advance. Cost will be a modest $10, buy your soda, etc at the range. Again details will follow.

There were so many people there last time, I'm thinking maybe it was like Yogi Berra's saying about some restaurant: "Nobody goes there anymore 'cause it's too crowded."

As for me, I got stuck at work on one of those "half hour jobs" that takes two hours. I stopped in around 7 but it didn't look like they were signing up another squad after the one that was shooting. I plan to make the nest (last!) one, though.
