Faribault is starting their summer IDPA on Wednesday May 16th.

I was curious as who from here were planning on attending? I assume westhope, Pat Cannon and a few others would be there.

They also shoot USPSA starting on Tuesday nights.

I would love to be there but I'm going to have to miss this one.

Perhaps the next one.

I would like to try it out sometime. I know I need the practice and advice of better marksmen than myself.

I won't be able to make it out this wednesday but maybe the next one.

Of course. I'm practicing my reloads as we speak. Still pretty comical.

...OK, that one was 6 seconds, about the best I've done. I think I need a better speedloader carrier, but this one was on closeout at Streicher's for (I'm not kidding) 88 cents. Ooh crap, 9 seconds. OK, 6 seconds...

Now if my ammo order from Georgia Arms shows up in time...

Hope the weather's like today!

How much ammo should I expect to go through in a day?

We run 3 regular IDPA stages: Max rounds per stage is 18. The stages usually need 18. If you need to re-shoot one stage, I would bring some extra.

I run an IDPA BUG match after the regular match. 15 rounds for that needed.

Social hour after the match.

Match starts about 5:00. You can come later, say 6:00, and still have time to shoot. Set up is about 4:00.

IDPA stages, if I recall correctly, are limited to 18 rounds. A typical match in Faribault has 3 stages, so in theory, you might get by with 48 rounds. In reality, you'll probably shoot a bunch of extra rounds to make up for misses, they might have four or even five stages, you might have to do a reshoot for some reason (like somebody forgot to tape up a target), you might get to reshoot a stage just for fun, or there might be a backup gun side match. I always try to have 100 rounds and I feel better if I have 150, 'cause maybe if I have extra I can lend some to somebody who's short -- maybe even somebody who lent me some another time.

And of course, you want to be ready in case you get in a gunfight with the Hell's Angels on your way home.

So there will be a Back Up Gun match; excellent!

And the UPS guy dropped off a heavy little package, yay! I was a little nervous because Georgia Arms didn't bill my bank card until today, so I was afraid they were just shipping it today. Apparently they don't charge you until they figure you have it -- how cool is that?

I won't be at this one, but I hope to make it to the next.

Wow, math sure has changed. When I went to school 3 stages X 18 rounds = 54 rounds. :P But I am younger than Pat, so it might be that new math thing.

The other thing, I am surprised at all the people that say they are practicing, that is not the gentlemanly or sportsman type of thing to do,,,shame on you all.

48, 54, whatever. I better have another beer. They both round off to 1 box of ammo anyway. :)

And as far as practicing goes, you know I've never been accused of being a gamer (my motto: "planning is cheating.") -- I just don't want to get a 'delay of game' penalty while I'm fumbling with speedloaders.

I hear you. Some days things just don't work the way you want them to.

Not really Pat. One way 1 box of ammo works. One way you're a few short. I'll make sure I bring a few extra rounds for you. You said you're shooting a 38 / 357 revolver this year. Right ?

Yeah, but don't worry about me, I just got 250 rounds so I'm pretty sure that'll get me through the match. :)

Well, I think I want to try this. I talked to Leo the other night and he told me to come down around 6, watch the match, then he'd run the newbies through a stage at the end of the game.

Any other new guys heading there tomorrow? Was thinking about leaving the McStop on I35 around 5:15ish.
