Post subject:  Consigning a gun?

Anybody ever sell a gun via consignment in the Twin Cities? If so, where was the retailer and what did it charge you? Is it possible federal or state law prohibits this? I know what I want (need) to get out of an item I've been trying to sell on the various classified forums, but inquiries have been slower coming than I thought they would be. I'm thinking that maybe it would work to let some shop put the gun in its display case and then let them have whatever they can get for the gun over what I want out of it, i.e., a consignment type deal.

(By the way, I've read the prior posts already on this board, but I'm hoping for some better or more detailed reports if possible.)

I sold one of my guns on consignment last year, or the year before, at Bill's. I don't remember exactly what their percentage was, but I want to say something like 10%, but I'm sure you can call and find out how much it is.

I wish I could have sold it myself, but I listed it correctly and it did sell in less than a month - for that I was happy. The Robbinsdale location gets a lot of traffic.

Consigning at Bill's:

You set your own selling price. After the gun sells, we cut a check for the sell price less 20% (with a 60 dollar minimum). There is no charge if we don't sell the gun. We ask for a minimum consignment term of 60 days.
