A series of violent robberies has occurred recently in neighborhoods near the University of Minnesota.

Police say at least three students have been robbed in the vicinity in the past week.

One student says he was approached by two men, one of whom said he had a gun.

“The guy over here said, ‘Yo, yo, I'm going to shoot you if you don't give me all that you got.’”

The student did not have enough money, causing the robbers to become violent.

”He was pretty pissed about it,” the student says of one of the robbers. “He was like, ‘Why do you only have five dollars in your wallet?’ I said, ‘I don't know, I'm a college student. I'm not supposed to be caring around 20's and 50's.’”

“The next thing I remember was that I was on the ground with them kicking my head,” the student says.

The two suspects then punched him in the face and left.

Police say the pair may have attacked another student in the same area Monday night.

The suspects are in their late teens or early twenties.

It's equally good that they had tha gun buy back a few months ago, since the violent crime rate has plummeted to zero since then.

I just checked off four conditions in my head as satisfied. I and the bad guys are extremely lucky that the victim was there instead of me.

But stuff like this just makes me ponder, because I have friends at the U and I visit there from time to time. And since I am not a student/employee, I am always carrying on the U's property.
