Handgun safety courses offeredEden Prairie, Minnesota

The first is set for 6-10 p.m. May 6 and 7 and is for men and women. Cost of $85 covers the cost of instruction, range time, ammunition, simulator training and more.
The second class is 6-10 p.m. June 16 and 18 and is for women only. Cost is the same.
“Both these programs provide a hands-on experience in firearms safety for people who are new gun owners, are thinking of purchasing a firearm for personal safety or just want to learn the basics of handling a firearm. Participants will: learn important safety procedures for the handling of pistols and use of a firearms range; become familiar with different types of pistols, parts and operation; learn about proper use of ammunition; learn techniques for loading and unloading firearms; practice pistol stance, grip and use of sights; use live ammunition in indoor firing range with assistance from firearms instructors; practice shooting using a police firearms simulator and become informed about state laws and procedures regarding the purchase and carrying of a hand gun,” according to a news release.
