I made up a billfold to take with me if I ever have to visit high crime areas such as Mpls, St Paul etc.

I have four credit cards, All the accounts are cancelled, and all the card dates have expired.

I have $20 in one dollar bills to show realism. A Old expired NRA card and a very nice hidden note for Mr Crook to read when he goes thru my billfold, lol

Was going to throw out everything, but I thought let's have some fun if I'm robbed.

This has nothing to do with if I carry or not.

Not a bad idea, on the whole. Much as I dislike the thought of "giving in" to thugs, I like the thought being dead/arrested/etc. less...

Great idea. I've been leaving an old one in my parka for years -- still haven't had to throw it in one direction and run in another, but a few bucks is a lot cheaper, in practice, than a few bullets fired on the street.

Unless the robber reads that note while still holding you up.

Hope you don't mind a mild to severe beating.

Otherwise, I see nothing wrong with the idea. Hopefully most robbers are cautious to the point they won't physically search you.

Nah. Remember, there've been some very smart folks -- like Ayoob, say; I got the wallet idea from one of his columns years and years ago -- who have been thinking and writing about this stuff for decades. If you can figure all of it out by yourself in a short time, you're even more gifted than I think you are.

I wouldn't put anything in a "throw down" wallet that had my name on it.

Methinks this would require a "suspension of disbelief" to quote a political hack. The mere idea that your garden variety street punk is going to be able to actually READ,,,,naahh.

Other than that, sure, why not! :)

Okay. So go to some extra trouble, and put in some phony IDs and some real money.

Perchance would someone here like to research the literacy rates of the local urban gangsta youth? I doubt that it would be significant, considering the dismally low high school graduation rates for our urban brethren.

That's the ticket! Maybe those stupid fake cards they send in mailings that say "John Doe".

I have a very common name for Minnesota. Take them 50 years to match it up. Besides, I'm unlisted

Note is hidden well, no crook is going to take the time to get to it until they're alone and go thru the whole billfold

After the crook takes the cash and maybe the cards, your wallet goes in the nearest trashcan. He won't take it home to look for hidden nastygrams.

The way they do the robberies in the Twin Cities, why even have a throw down, unless you hope your relatives will get the real wallet when the cops go through your pockets looking for an ID. It isn't all that uncommon for the robber to shoot you anyway after you gave up the wallet, so you may want to think of another tactic.
