Got this in my e-mail at work:
Quote: I am writing to provide you with important information about an incident that occurred earlier today near Allina Commons.
At approximately 3 p.m., an Allina employee was shot and injured while waiting at a bus top on the north side of E. Lake Street between Elliot and 10th Avenues. The employee’s injury was not life-threatening, and he was treated at a local hospital and released.
According to the Minneapolis Police, an armed individual ran out of a nearby building on E. Lake Street and began shooting at an unidentified target. Police are continuing to search for the suspect, who remains at large. To our knowledge, no other people were injured.
While we are thankful the employee’s injury was minor, this isolated incident clearly concerns us. Allina and Abbott Northwestern Hospital are committed to the neighborhood and will continue to work with local police to ensure the safety and security of all employees.
While leaving Abbott Northwestern Hospital this afternoon and this evening, we encourage you to use normal diligence and caution.
If you parked in a ramp, we recommend that you use one of the tunnels or the skyway to reach your automobile.
Escorts are available by calling Security at 3-5416.
We will continue to provide updates about additional security measures as well as details about the incident.
Work is still posted, of course.

Goalie,
I know it's difficult because you work there, but I've carried in every establishment that I've seen a sign at.
Sign...what sign???
Maybe you could take it out/off of your waistband in the car and put in in the pocket of your duffel or backpack...or some other such manner. Then, store it in your locked locker for each shift.
No one would know, except you, just like when I'm in the ICU with my dying mother and my trusty XD-9SC so I don't end up lying next to her.
Just an idea, because I wouldn't be caught dead in that neighborhood without at least 1, if not a BUG too!
Just thinking out loud because we both know you don't want to lose your job but should have a way to protect yourself outside of the building.
Mark

The escorts from security are wearing body armour. They don't take it off and let you wear it either.

Reminds me of when the 910 Medical basement flooded and the building was without power... walking around the shops to buy flashlights was NOT comfortable

I needed you about 15 years ago. Those flack jackets were heavy, and didn't stop ANYTHING.
Plus, I get to wear a lead apron at work as it is.
