I doubt I'd ever do something like this, but it is kinda interesting.

I've had one for about 5 years, it's fun, you can still keep the working 1911 and not very expensive.

I have a question about it. More a thirst for Knowledge than anything else.

How long is the Barrel?
since you are converting this to a rifle wouldn't it then be classified as a Short Barreled Rifle?
By ATF/NFA standards a rifle is a firearm with a shoulder stock correct?

Not trying to rain on anybody's parade on these things but that is my immediate thought of them. could get you in a heap of trouble if caught using this in the wrong environment around the wrong people.
Please discuss as I am interested of other peoples theories on this topic.

Seems to me it would be a long barreled pistol if it started out as a pistol. That's probably legal, even though a short barrel rifle is not. But I think if the manufacturer sold it as a rifle it would b illegal to put on a pistol barrel and pistol stock.

I think long barrel pistols are OK, it's short barrel rifles that are illegal.

Barrel length (on a glock kit) is 16 1/4".
Total length (on a Glock kit) is 33 1/2" with the stock.

If you add a kit with no stock (or remove the stock), you have a legal 16 1/4" barreled pistol. A kit with the stock gives you a legal rifle both in total length and barrel length. You could cut down the barrel to below minimum length, but you could do that with any rifle. Without the stock its just a loooonnnggg barrel for your already legal pistol (remember the frame is the dangerous part).

I just didn't see any Barrel length specs on there website (didn't look super hard either). And technically any thing with a shoulder stock is considered a rifle whether it is on a legal pistol frame or not. and you can't have a lower that is a pistol (on an AR for sure) and add a stock unless you get it licensed as a SBR. and from what I have read they can't go backwards (or interchange between the 2) with filling out the proper paperwork each time you make the swap (which encrues a $200 tax stamp). At least this is my understandings from my readings on Silencertalk.com which is all about that kinda stuff.
