Am considering a SightMark Triple Duty Universal Green laser bore sight. The hype makes it sound like just the ticket.
Anyone with any experience with this one?
Or any other, for that matter...

I had a laser, it was not useful. The Bushnell will work for scopes. I'd like to have something for open sights, and for for 50 cal muzzeloaders, and deer shotguns. Most of this stuff is made to sell, not to use.

http://shop.laserlyte.com/product.sc?productId=25&categoryId=11 I have this one. Paid about $45 for it at Sportsman's Warehouse. See them almost everywhere though. The attachments to change the caliber require a gentle touch as the fine threads on the screws that hold the plastic guildes are thin, but it really just requires taking your time when using it. I've used this on a number of guns (rifles and handguns), for scopes, reddots, and open sights. As DeanC said, it gets me on the paper for the first shot everytime, usually requiring very fine adjustments to the sights for the specific distance you're sighting the gun in at at the range. (The only gun I couldn't use it on so far is the crosman 1377 I'm now using for a new project. The shaft on this .22 and up model is too thick for the .177 barrel.) |

I've had a Leupold [sic?] prism-type bore sight for years. It works great for me (gets me on paper @ 100yds). They don't make the same style anymore. Their new one is this: http://www.leupold.com/hunting-and-shoo ... resighter/ To most folks, it doesn't look like it could possibly work. It does. The instructions are simple. Prisms are funky. |

I have the lazer like the poster 2 above me has. I also have the Leupold like the guy above does.... For me the lazer gets me hella closer. |

I understand the lazer is better, but is it twice-the-price better? Don't know what they cost now, but when I got mine that was the case. All I really expect from the boresite is to get me on paper. I'm gonna have to make the same adjustments anyway. Use boresite to find approximate POI, based on POA. Shoot 3-5 at POA. Anchor gun at POA. Dial sites to POI (center of your group). Tweak until happy. The process doesn't really change with a better boresite. It might just be shortened up by six seconds less knob turning. |

The nice thing about collimator that I use is once you get zeroed, you put it back in your rifle and note the grid coordinates for your zero. Then if you drop your rifle or next year when it's time to sight in again, return your reticule to those coordinates and you'll be almost exactly dead-on again. |
