I recently bought some land(12acre) in Andover and I am trying to figure out what this ordinance means exactly.
Any help would be appreciated. I have a hard time reading these things some time.

Can I hunt with a bow?
Can I hunt with a Rifle?
Can I target shoot?

http://files.andovermn.net/pdfs/Planning/Discharge%20Ordinance.pdf
http://files.andovermn.net/pdfs/Planning/Hunting%20Map.pdf

I am in the grey section to the north.

Thank you for your time

Mods if this is the wrong section please move.

Looks to me like your 12 acres meets the 10 acre minimum and no permit is required BUT you need to have the other items in place like backround for your shooting area per the codes and proper distance to other residences etc.

With in the bounds of Andover I would think this section will get you.

3. The discharge of a rifle or handgun utilizing a solid projectile shall not
be allowed within the city.

AKA you can only bird hunt with shotgun and deer hunt with bow. That would be my read on it.

"Ten (10) acres (minimum) required for discharge of firearms. No City Permit required"

I would think that is the part that would make it OK in the area you are in on the map.

Call the city and have them make the determination.

"An individual annual or seasonal permit is required by
the city for the discharge of firearms for the purpose of hunting deer with a
shotgun (slug only) in..................."

would eliminate deer hunting only with a bow

Or just show that you need approval to deer hunt with a shotgun, no such restriction on bow?
