From 1993 through 1996, Boston had a gun buyback program. They got 2800 guns at $50 each, very few of which were of the types used by criminals (is anybody here surprised? I thought not.) And they found that some of the people used the buyback money towards buying newer guns.
So they're doing it again, this time they plan to use gift cards for stores like Target and Best Buy. They expect they can offer $100 or so cards; anybody want to guess what the street value will be?
