I got my new newsletter this week and thought a few of the items were, well, interesting.
1. they now require a minimum of a 4 hour class
2. they acknowledge that they have received complaints (I assume from other instructors) where people are offering a "multi-State" class with the Utah process included in their home State class; the newsletter suggested that the classes be separated so as to not confuse the student
3. they note they are way behind processing the applications
If I read between the lines, it sounds like some instructors are rubber stamping applications without meeting their legal duty as a Utah Instructor.
I did not "need" to alter my handouts, but I spent this morning updating and adding some more Utah specific (legal stuff) into my handout.
I read the newsletter as shooting a warning shot over the bow of the not-so-capable (or shortcut taking) instructors. I'll bet they start decertifying some if things do not change with some of the problematic instructors.
