I just use the RCBS hand priming tool. I don't honestly know how one brand of primers differs from another. I am not choosy so I'll use whatever I can . I use a primer pocket uniformer and cleaning tool, so they all should seat OK.

Well my order from 4/22 still has not shown up so I broke down and bought 1k of the Magtech small pistol primers today at Cabelas in Rodgers. I sure hope my Lee Pro likes them

PS They still had about 2k left as of about noon today.

I saw a little sign saying only 1 per customer but when the guy asked me how many I want I said as many as I can have. He gave me the whole box and said I would save money if I bought the whole thing, $29.99 at the register. He mumbled something about not limiting these ones but I didn't want to ask a lot of questions at that point :D

I haven't had any issues with the Magtech SP primers Cabela's coughed up for me last month.

I loaded about 30 with Magtech primers and went to the range yesterday and had a real problem with these rounds in my XD. The firing pin was hitting the primer with no ignition. I threw in a couple clips of factory rounds and no problems.

Does anyone have any ideas what is causing this?

PS I will post pics when I get home tonight.

Did you try running them through again?

A common mistake is not having your primers seated deep enough. The first strike of the firing pin will seat the primer properly and the second will allow the anvil inside to do its job.

Edit

I miss read his post. I thought he was talking about magnum primers. After reading it again, I see my mistake. Old age kicking in. Maybe I need glasses.

I edited out my post because it doesnt apply.

Andrew - Thanks for the advice on the magnum primers.

Using magnum primers in the place of regular ones can be dangerous, and is not recommended.
