Anyone buy bullets in bulk. Plated or FMJ.

I want to get a feel for where prices are right now. I usually pay about $85 OTD for 45 acp plated 230 ball ammo.

Or if anyone has got a better place to buy them.

I just loaded 2500 plated 230's (ranier's) I do not like them

Yeah they are cheap - but I have found about a 4% loading failure rate - even witha good flared casing...

Do what you will - this has been my experience.

Never had an issue with them. I crimp really light. Just enought to make it stick.

Going to try Berry's plated now.

What do you mean by a loading failure?

I guess I am not up to speed on that one.

For plated, I'd go here.

or

Other bullets:

Of course, for everything, try:

I mean - I always manage to strip some plating off of the edge of the bullet.... About 3-4 per /100

Slows things down a bit - mostly my fault.... Like I said - I DONT LIKE THEM

Not that there is anything really wrong with them.

I have had a similar experience as Pinnacle with Rainer plated bullets (200 gr SWC 45 ACP). I tried Berry Bullets (also a plated bullet) and did not have the problems. I think the plating is a little thicker.

The best way I have found to buy bullets is wait until Cabela's has one of their Cabela Visa Card promotions ($30 off a purchase $150 or more), ask the store to order you the supply of bullets you want (they will ship it to the store, no freight) and pay for them during the promotion. This is going on now (Oct. 20-29) so if you got one of their promotions (or sign up for a card) is reduces the cost of bullets.

I became a Berry's bullet dealer, today.
Hopefully this will help cut prices down a bit. I will pass the savings on to members here too. As soon as I figure out what kind of deals I can get.

Hopefully I can get the bullets cheap.

Here's an indication of interest for some 230gr RN 45acp....

I just got 2000 bullets (my UPS guy hates me) from Montana Gold Bullet. Inc. 230gr. FMJ. This is my second batch from them and I have not had any issues at all. $190 including shipping is their current price for a case (2000 bullets).

Actually, the UPS guy hated me more last time when the order was for 4000. He *staggered* up the driveway and asked the wife, "What's in these boxes, lead?"

She looked at the label and said, "Yup."
