I'm kind of in the market to have a custom part made for my reloading setup. I have an existing part I want duplicated, with a slight change in dimension (longer body).

When I look at the existing part (a Dillon powder funnel), I just see a stainless steel tube with a taper at one end and some turnings here and there, but maybe there's more to it (there usually is...).

Is this a complicated thing to get done? I get the impression any half-competent machinist could knock it off easily, but I wouldn't know where to start. I don't think it requires any expertise in what the part is.

How do you find someone to do this or at least tell you how to do it? All my google search results have been for "big" companies that do manufacturing. At most, I'd want 2-3 made (ideally just one).

Might try an area Voc-Tech. You may or may not want to tell them what the part is for. Tell them it is part of a ......... machine/engine/toy/model your are fixing.

Now that I think about it a good try would be Bill Bune. Very much a gun guy and very competent machinist. A very good guy.

See this thread: http://www.twincitiescarry.com/forum/vi ... php?t=3522

His web page is linked in one of the posts, it should have his contact info.

Sounds like a job for a machinist who knows reloading, too.

Bernie White sounds like your guy.

Here's an image of the part I want made, but with a longer body.

(This particular part is already the right length, the image was borrowed from Dillon's web site for illustration purposes.)
