Post subject:  Polishing Brass

After taking a few years off I will be getting back into reloading this winter. I've read about adding a spoonful or two of some kind of polish to the media when tumbling brass but I can't remember what kind of polish it was. Anybody know?

I think that it was a household polish. I didn't want to have to order anything.

Household polishes contain ammonia, which does bad things to brass.

try just washing the brass first. I use one of the media separators and a 5 gallon bucket of hot soapy water. You can use any net or pourous bag as an option. Just get the brass in there and agitate it around for a while, then let it sit for 15 minutes and agitate again and drain and rinse. dry over night and then run thru the tumbler, the stuff gets new brass bright.

I use dawn dish soap seems to work wonders.

I use Lyman Turbo Charger. I think Flitz also make a media additive. I am going to try that next.
