. . . with my deer processor is that the "Undo" key doesn't work real well; my word processor is much better.

I've done the golf ball trick a couple times. Andy and I were talking about it a couple days ago and it really is much easier and probably cleaner to just cut the hide off while the deer is hanging.

Dean, as I saw it done, it was far cleaner than what I've witnessed from just hanging a deer and skinning it. Strategic cuts were done in the hide and then the engine hoist cranked up while gently guiding the hide off the carcass. I suppose it all boils down as to how skilled an individual is.

The times I've seen it done, it was done on the ground on a tarp as the guys who did it didn't have anything strong enough to withstand the pulling forces of the car yanking on a suspended deer.

The shed has rafters, but they are only good enough to hang the deer from, not pull on it with a car.

Nahh, these guys used an actual engine hoist. The cable secured to the "legs" and around the golf ball. The head of the deer was secured to the boom of the engine hoist. (Chain, I think) This was circa 1993 and I only saw it done once.

When done correctly, the golf ball method works great. We use an electric overhead cable hoist and a chain anchored to the floor.
