Up to 34%!

And the wolves just came off Federal protection, go figure.

Might be the wolves, might be something else. Too bad the DNR didn't bother to mention what the causes or their theories are behind the increased mortality rates.

I think it may be what they call "Brain Fever", a disease that moose get. I believe it is a disease carried by ticks and with a rise in the deer population there are more ticks.

I was told a number of years ago by a wildlife biologist that increasing deer population in the northern part of the state was causing more moose to develop brain fever and might eventually end moose hunting.

It's been a quiet topic of conversation up here for a while. We've been finding dead moose in the woods for a while now. I don't think that there's a big problem with brain worm because you can usually tell they have it before they die. They stagger around towards the end. I've seen moose with brain worm before. There's been a study going on for quit a while now and it's being done by one of the tribes. The local CO's just aren't saying much.

I knew this guy that has a sister and her boyfriend is a guy that talked to Al Gore earlier regarding this exact subject and he confirmed the it is indeed just another in a long list of global warming tragedies.............it will be in his next film......:P :P :P :P :P :P :P

Seriously, this seems not to be just a problem with MN moose. I read a report that discusses Canadian Moose and some Caribou herds that have a similar problem/issue.......
