And more importantly another "chipping away" of our rights and yet another useless law/regulation.

Visit the issue and contacts here:

I sent an email to each and every rep on the list (and plan to call the ones that don't have a computer yet). Below is an email response (and below that my email to him) from an ally. Take his advice!

Dear John,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write. Please tell all of the hunters that you know to write to their legislators as well. We will defeat this bill tomorrow in the Game and Fish Division, but it will likely come up again on the floor of the House.

The Humane Society of the United States is really pushing this. Please let people know. Most legislators will get fifteen or twenty letters supporting this bill and none opposing it.

I too am an avid hunter and we can't afford to let dove hunting go away.

Regards,

Joe

Dear Joe,

First I want to thank you for becoming a representative. Even if we disagree, it takes people like you who care to keep our state a great one to live in. I appreciate you for that.

It has come to my attention that bills have been introduced to remove mourning doves from the list of game birds. I want you to know that my friends, my family, and I enjoy hunting and OPPOSE this legislation. There is no good reason to take these birds off the list of game birds!

Oppose House file 2501 and Senate File 2329, and allow my grandchildren (I have three who live here in Minnesota) the same experiences that I've had.

Please contact me if you have any questions or if I can be of any assistance in this.

Thanks!

This really pisses me off, it took us years to bring dove hunting back.   I personnaly don't participate due to work constraints during the season, but I sure would like to get out sometime for the hunt. Cornish, Hackbarth, Chaudhary, Dill, Pariseau, can't be happy with having to beat off these dingbats again.  I will be sending letters out (again). I really don't see dove hunting going away, but the HSUS will keep trying.

Edited to add: The bill is no suprise at all, look at the authors; Jaros; Kahn; Erhardt; Huntley; Tschumper; Loeffler

The liberalization of the season was sort of a sham anyhow. My understanding is that most of the doves have already migrated south by the time the season opens.

Dear John,

Thanks for your note regarding S.F. 2329, which would restore Minnesota's long standing prohibition on hunting mourning doves.

We will have to agree to disagree on this issue. As someone who supports hunting and has been a hunter, I do not believe it is appropriate to target small songbirds.

A public hearing on S.F. 2359 was held on March 3rd in the Senate's Environment and Natural Resources Committee. The committee did not act on the bill, and I will not be pursuing it any further this session.

Again, thank you for contacting me. I always appreciate hearing the views of my constituents. Please continue to stay in touch on this or any other matter of importance to you.

Very truly yours,
D. Scott Dibble

Is it just me or does the following statement not bring up "issues" with the anti-hunter movement?

To me, this is just a step away from "all hunting is barbaric". Which it may well be... but to classify one species of fowl as less desirable based upon their vocal intonations seems like a weak argument. What about the "lovely gentle larged eyed whitetail", shouldn't they also be protected?

Emotional *crap* brought into the mix and guiding legislation. I am going to write and let him know that we don't "Agree" to disagree. I disagree with a purpose! As long as he is an Anti-hunter, he should stand up and be counted. Don't hide behind being a hunter or one who "supports" hunters.
