As I said before, right now, until October 29, Sunday, Cabela's is having a "Special Event" where they give you $10 off purchases $50 to $149; $30 off purchases $150 to $249; $50 off purchases $250 to $349; $75 off purchases $350 to $449 and $100 off purchases over $450. They have little coupons laying all around the store for this.

It is not part of the Cabela's Visa card. It is for everyone.

I was in the store today and wrote down some handgun prices.

S&W 642 List $370 with discount ($75) $295

Tauras Ultra Lite (38 Spec. J frame size) List $299 with discount ($50) $249

Ruger KSP 101 List $439 with discount ($100 buy a box of ammo too) $339

Kahr PM9 List $599 with discount ($100) $499

Kahr P45 List $629 with discount ($100) $529

Glock 19, 26 or 32 List $539 with discount ($100) $439

Glock 23 Used List $479 with discount ($100) $379

Keltec P3AT List $259 with discount ($50) $209

CZ 100 List $379 with discount ($75) $304

XD 9 List $459 with discount ($100) $359

XD 9 Compact List $459 with discount ($100) $359

XD 45 ACP List $529 with discount ($100) $429

Colt Officers Used List $599 with discount ($100) $499
(This one is for COBB and me only, others please disregard. I haven’t bought it yet.)

These were guns on hand at the Owatonna Cabela’s. I didn’t ask if you ordered one if they would honor the price. They might.

Remember, this sale ends Sunday, Oct. 29.

I don’t follow gun prices closely, but these may be of interest to some. I know the S&W 642 is a good price. I had a boring day so I thought of all of you on the TC Forum.

Good info! Thanks for the research.

At those prices, I wish I had a few grand to build my collection!

Terrific prices; I recommend the guns I've left listed.

I saw I entered the XD 9 price as $499 originally. I corrected it to $459 list and $359 discount. I copied it off my scrap of paper wrong.

Sorry.

They had a used XD 40 for the $499 list I originally entered. Not knowing much about the XD's I didn't understand why it would be more than a new XD 9.

Are you sure those prices are good for firearm purchases, fine print somewhere I think!

Did anyone confirm for you that they are actually honoring those coupons on handgun purchases? I don't have any information that says they are not, but I've seen deals like this before only to find out that there's some exception on gun sales.

Thanks for the info.

Darnit, Brit. You hit "submit" two minutes before I finished typing my post. You're thinking what I'm thinking though. I once opened a credit card just to get the 10% off my purchse of a gun at GM, and when I went to pay they said, "Oh, didn't anyone tell you? You only get a 5% discount on gun purchases -- everything else in the store is 10% off." Still bought the gun though, but I felt a little violated (and not in the good way).

I spent some time looking at Cabelas' website and their ad and don't see any mention of the special event pricing. Could be an in-the-store promotion only though. Come onnnnnnnnn, Cabelas. Make my sneaking out of work early on Friday afternoon worth the drive all the way up to Rogers.

The guys behind the gun counter gave me every reason to believe they applied. I was standing there when customers were buying long guns and they said they were.

If you all insist, I will buy one tomorrow to verify it. (You will need to explain it to my wife and provide some monetary compensation.) I'm not sure which one though. Maybe the Colt Officers, but that may anger Cobb.

Really, if you want me to go back to the store, verify it for sure again, and call you, PM me (before about 8:00 AM) with your phone number and I will call you. I need to travel by Cabela's in the morning to pick the Berry bullets they ordered in on this "Special Event" for me.

Remember, it ends Sunday Oct. 29.

I called the Rogers store and a guy at the handgun counter told me the sale does apply to handguns. He said that you have to either have a Cabelas credit card or apply (and be approved) to get one though. I ran through an example sale with him to confirm, and he did the math with me showing what the final price will be. He put my name on a gun as it was the last one in inventory, so it looks like come 4:00 this afternoon, I'll have a new horse in the stable. These prices are just way too good to pass up.

Thanks again, westhope. Great job passing along some extremely useful information to the forum.

Yep, I just came from Rogers and the special does apply to firearms, although as onebohemian said, you do have to have or sign up for the Cabela's card. I don't know if I should thank you westhope or not--my wallet is now lighter...

I'm now the proud owner of a NIB 642. Cabelas' price as marked was 369.99. Put tax on top of that to get to $394.04. Knock off $75 for their current sale and an extra $15 they credit you just for opening one up (and they let me spend it immediately), and I walked out with this beautiful gun for $304.04. Wow!

By the way, I am so glad I lost a gun auction earlier this week. I found a 1962 S&W 10-2 snubby via a local internet auction site. The gun was about 85% finish condition, and the hammer was binding on pull back about every third or fourth pull. Not sure if ejector was bent, if there was too much end to end play in the cylinder, or if the hand wasn't mating with the cylinder correctly. I bid up to $282 on it, figuring I could fix her up. I really like those old S&W classics. As I said, I lost the auction because the gun went for $348.00. I bought a lot more gun today for almost $50.00 less. I'll say it again, WOW!

(FYI, I got the last 642 from the Rogers store. There was talk while I was there though that a few customers who wanted certain guns but couldn't get them before the sale ends (Oct. 29) because they were out of inventory, were getting rain checks on which sales people were writing a note that the "special event" money off would be applied after Oct. 29th when the gun showed up at Cabelas.)

If they've got a S&W 686 there, I might just be lured by this deal. I'll definitely stop by tomorrow either way.

Thanks westhope.

I now have a XD .45 5" and a box of ammo to go with it.
$15 box of ammo to get an extra $25 dollars off is a win in my book.

$486 for the XD and box of ammo AFTER taxes.

Had to apply for credit card, was approved in 10 minutes. THe whole stop was 40 minutes, not counting the time waiting in the parking lot to open.
