Sounds good, but with my luck lately, we would get busted during the exchange by a couple of undercover LEOS for an alleged drug buy.......

I would have been busted ages and ages ago. I meet people on the curb almost weekly. It's no big deal.

Can anyone confirm that these mags will sit flush in a Colt 1911? I've never used anything but genuine Colt 7-rounders (for no particular reason except that's what I have) and am just curious what these will look like.

I'm hoping that they are Chips Power Mags which have a basepad, else they are the SHOOTING STAR CLASSIC SERIES MAGS which can come with or without the base pad......if they come in either blued or stainless then they must not be the Power Mags.........oops, I better find out too...........

Magazines.

Hey Dean

What's your price on the 8-round Match Grade or Power Mags?

(Or you can tell me I'm a PITR and go away)

I'm assuming (I know ... bad) that since the original group buy by Commander Zero was for Shooting Star Mags and DeanC posted his price which matches with Midway's regular prices for Shooting Star mags ... These are probably Shooting Star Mags.

Does that change anyone's mind?
Will this evolve into a Use DeanC's C&R for fun and profit thread :-) ? :-)

What would people like to do? How should we proceed?

Well thanks for clearing that up. It also answers eLRoy's question: Yes, these 8 round mags will sit flush in a Colt 1911.

I will stand firm with my commitment, if the rest do and you move forward with the order for 4 SS. Now the question is can you mix the order with some with and some without base pads, as I do prefer them with pads but not mandatory, but it sounds like eLRoy would prefer them without..........

My hope is to buy something that works the first time.

I don't want to have Dean purchase something, forward it on to me; I find that one or more have issues and then need to return them. Reading the reviews on Midway's site the Shooting Star Mags can have issues. It also appears that CM won't own up to their mags having QC issues...it is always the gun. Midway, apparently, will take them back but I don't want to put Dean in the unenviable position of having to be the middleman.

I would be willing to look at pay more for the next step up then having to go through that. That is why I'm asking.

I noticed the same thing yesterday lumbering.buffalo when I stopped in to check if they were still in stock. I was going to let you guys order the shooting stars and order some power mags for myself.

What is perplexing to me is that the blued shooting stars get 4 stars, but the stainless only 2.

Ok, so Dean PM'd that he's ok with a mixed order as long as things are clear. $16.99 is the price. PM me if you want to change your order. Same $0.25 for shipping applies.

Thanks for the catch and good luck to all ...

herding cats indeed :-)

PlbLark,

Elroy's check is in the mail today.

The description says the price includes base pad (which I want), but the image on the web site doesn't show one.

It's not a big deal either way. This is a good price.

Thanks plbllark for managing this. It's much appreciated.

I placed the order this AM even though not all of you have paid.

I figure the risk to me is that I'll end up with a couple extra mags.

I ordered two powermags for myself. Here's the details of the transaction:

Quote:
510592 Chip McCormick Shooting Star Magazine with Base Pad 1911 Government, Commander 45 ACP 8-Round Steel Blue 4 @ $10.29 = $41.16
783573 Chip McCormick Power Mag Magazine with Base Pad 1911 Government, Commander 45 ACP 8-Round Stainless Steel 12 @ $16.99 = $203.88
963333 Chip McCormick Shooting Star Magazine with Base Pad 1911 Government, Commander 45 ACP 8-Round Stainless Steel 6 @ $11.49 = $68.94

In Stock Item Total: $313.98
Postage, Handling & Insurance: $8.95
Special Handling: $0.00
Sales Tax: $0.00
Adjustments: - $0.00
NRA "Round-Up" Contribution: $0.00

In Stock Grand Total: $322.93

Delivery is estimated for 4/20. We might have them in time for the breakfast meeting.

Looks like shipping was a little more than we anticipated. I'm not too worried about it. If any of you run into me, just slip me a buck or something.

Thanks Dean! I'll get you the money as fast as it comes in. I can get you part of it this afternooon if you don't think the vice cops will suspect a cash transfer curbside :-)

Note: next time, $0.50 per mag for shipping I guess.
