Has anybody checked this range bag out?

http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=259680&utm_source=259680&utm_medium=homepage514

On other forums they really rate these range bags pretty high. I ordered mine this past weekend and will find out if they are as good as everyone thinks. The price of $30 is hard to beat if they are as good as everybody thinks.

Being a mechanic I bought a tool bag for the same price. The bag is a little bigger, and from the range bags I've seen, it's built a little more heavy duty.

Granted I got mine from a tool guy...but he carried one, full of tools, just like it every day for 2 years without any problems.

I would check out Sears/Craftsman and see what they have.
Maybe something like this?

or

or
This one doesn't seem to bad for $9.00

I just clicked on Tools, then searched for Bag.
There are more....lots under $20.00. Some over that, but they come with tools.

Having hauled a range bag (of ever increasing weight) around all the ranges in Europe, on arriving on these shores I found a plastic toolbox (ZAG) large enough to take all my range junk for about $35. It has wheels an extendable handle and a large flat top, so I can roll it around without permanent damage to my shoulder and when I get tired I can sit on it. All in all I think it is the perfect solution.

My $.02

Yep, those tool bags are heavy duty, I have one from Sears, a couple that I got at Home Depot, and a couple smaller ones that I got from Harbor Freight. I work on pharmaceutical equipment and have different bags with certain tools, depending on what I was going to do on the equipment that day.

I also have two range bags, smaller in size, that is why I ordered the one from Midway.

Bottom line, the 6 tool bags, 4 different styles, 3 different sizes would not fit my needs as a range bag. With the quantity and combination of small hand tools I carry for work, a range bag would not work very well for me as a tool bag, I wouldn't be able to find anything.

With me carrying prescription shooting glasses, an electronic timer, stapler and staples, plus ammunition, a couple firearms, fired brass, hearing protection, squib rod, gun tools, parts, etc., etc., I would have nothing but a mess in a tool bag.

If the tool bags work for you as a range bag, great, but I just carry too much shooting shit. :?

I ordered mine a few days ago as it looked like a good deal with good reviews (excepting that if it's all you get, you have to pay at least $10 in shipping). I haven't received it yet.

I've never had a proper range bag. I've tried all sorts of bags intended for other purposes and it's always been a mess. I like Selurcspi's idea of a wheelable box (I've got them for other hobbies) but I'm not a die hard shooter...yet. Hopefully the Midway bag will work out well; I'll report back too when I get mine.

I believe ZAG is a brand name used by Stanley tools. I found mine at Menards, I expect they will have something similar in stock now.

Mine just arrived. It was, as the reviews on midway's site indicated, a bit larger (good) than was obvious from their description. Here's a couple snaps. The CD, gun, magazines, and ear/eye protection are not part of the deal, but were provided as size references.

This one's a bit blurry, but I pulled the inner bag and the pistol rugs and folded the magazine pouch open.

I haven't had time to organize my [paltry collection of] gear in it, but at first glance, it looks like a winner, expecially given the $30 sale price tag, good for two more days.

Just got home from IDPA about half hour ago and the new bag was waiting. I am very impressed with quality verses price. It may be a little larger that I wanted, but my other range bag was just too small and I'd have to carefully arrange as to make things fit and I wouldn't even consider putting my shooting glasses in my old bag, they would be crushed.

With the extras, a place to hold a beverage on the end, 2 gun sleeves, a brass bag, basically I think overall it was a pretty good deal. I had gotten the flyer and really didn't pay much attention to it until the guys out on 1911Forum kept giving it good reviews.

Time will tell.

I've been looking for a larger bag and this one certainly fits the bill. I just got it yesterday. Seems to be well made and lots of cool extras too.

The sale price of $29.99 plus shipping is apparantley on until the end of July.

Steal of a deal.
