Pblark, congrats on your new-found powers.

Just a thought. How about a group buy on crimson-trace grips (model lg-405) for the 642? It might not be doable from crimson trace's perspective, but I have to believe there's a ton of us on this site that would buy a set of these if we could get a better deal than standard retail. Best individual online price I've seen is $233.00 w/ free shipping. Should give you something to do on your first day in the captain's chair.

Thanks,

Re Crimson Trace....

I know that a number of folks have recently become NRA instructors ... Crimson Trace has very good special instructor pricing. I paid $139 for mine on the Taurus 85.

And, a reminder about an earlier thread that Kahr Arms also has spectacular pricing on their handguns for instructors.

I would note though that on other boards that have tried group buys it is a real hit/miss on saving money, particularly when we have Jerry45 here as a member/dealer that will likely be able to have very good pricing on many items.

Springfield about a year ago worked with some folks over at AR15.com and had nice pricing for some 1911 models.

I am drooling over the possibilities!

$233 is a good price. Midway dealer price is $240 plus shipping.

Of course, $140 is a screaming deal.

Is there a prohibition on NRA instructors purchasing for others (i.e., non-NRA instructors)? If not, anybody want to do me a solid?

Thanks

Still going through my time in hell with Crimson Trace -- don't get me started, please -- I'd rather we not do this.

I'm more than willing -- drooling, actually -- for him to work with plblark on any of this.

I checked with the CT people and...NRA instructors have a purchase limit of 3; and, they do not do "group buy pricing."
