Gander's price on everything seems to be going up lately. I've heard rumors that their profits are not meeting expectations. When I saw their flyer last week Sunday advertising an XD-45 4" on sale for $699 I knew something was very wrong.

You mean you do not think that will bring in throngs of people to grab it up at that price so GM can make their real profit on the accessories and other gear?

OOPS! You're right Cobb, it was $599 not $699. Still higher than most places though. They are normally running around $489-$529.

Gander will probably not have competitive prices on SA products for some time, if ever.

A while back they were selling XD's for near cost and broke SA's advertised pricing covenants. I'm not sure how it all shook out, but there were rumors of them not being able to sell SA products at all if they didn't make it right.

The theory, apparently, is that enough of their customers aren't at all price sensitive. My guess is that Mr. Mckown is wrong about that, too.

Gander Mountain has that new list of "extras" they believe will justify their price increases. Their slogan, "You don't just pay more; you get more" involves stuff like a free cleaning and a one-year extension on the manufauturers' warranties (many of which already have lifetime warranties!). Some examples: Nitron blued Sig 226--$999.00, way over MSRP, Glock 30--$749.00, S&W 640 revolver--$699.00. I'd be amazed if this new strategy works for them. One GM employee told me they raised prices anywhere from $50.00--$200.00 on every gun and showed me a Remington shotgun (I can't remember the model) that was raised $200.00 above its previous price.
