I'd like to get my dad a shotgun and am considering the 870 Express. Has anyone seen this for sale at a good price?

IIRC, New, 12 Ga 2 3/4" or 3" , Synthetic Stock, 28" Ribbed barrel with hi Viz type front bead was $239 at Cabelas recently. Might also check Remington on the Web for a rebate.

No chokes IIRC.

Unfortunately, it looks like that sale ended. The cheapest I can find is $287 at Fleet Farm. Then the $30 rebate off that.

Dick's is running that special now. I can go there.

Is the 26 or 28 better for pheasants and squirrels?

The shorter barrel will be a bit easier to carry and move with in the woods, and the velocity loss will be minor with todays powders.

Cabela's just had a flier that came out yesterday in the mail saying they had the express on sale, How big is your daughter? She maybe better fit by the youth sized 20 or at least consider fitting the youth sized stock on a the regular sized gun, ( the only difference will be the stock lenght then as the Adult gun just has a longer barrel. up to about 5'7 or so, the youth sized stock will fit her better. and a better fit means more birds down and less bruises.

What does the daughter have to do with it? Or am I missing something?
