Occasionally, I will start reading the posts that are new since my "last visit", when my wife steals her computer back.

There must be a timeout where the forum marks all new posts as read, even though I never got around to them. When this happens, I have to browse each sub-forum and try realize some deja vu.

My question: Is it possible to make a link to "all unread posts" and not just posts made since the "last visit"?

Don't think so. Might want to try Google Reader; that's how I keep up on public forums.

Is it a shortcoming of this version of forum software? Of the 4-5 other forums I read, all but one has this function.

The funny thing is, just about all of them behave a little different.

Gotta love Open Source... not.

I'm hoping we'll soon be up and running with PHPBB3, which should have that functionality.

This thread seems closeest to my problem.

I very often skip reading certain threads based on the title. These leaves these threads as unread.

On the old software the Topic group would have its 'unread threads' flag cleared after I left the Topic group.

On the new software that flag stays, which makes it difficult for me to see topic groups that have truly new/updated threads.

Is there anyway to deal with this? I didn't see anything in the Control Panel.

SOB, go to the Board Index and Mark Forums Read (top right of default theme) when you are done reading for a while. Not automatic but workable.

I'm back to reading the board after a 3 week absence and the "Read New Posts" function still works for me.
