We can all agree that it's not healthy to be shot with a gun but that doesn't make it a health issue.
If it does, then getting hit by a baseball bat or a piece of pipe is a health issue. So is a car accident or a tornado. Where does it end?
By that standard, anything that can hurt you is a "Public Health" issue.

Quote: According to numbers from the city of Minneapolis, homicide is the leading cause of death for city residents between the ages of 15 and 24, and the problem is even more intense on the North Side.
Really? How many were murdered? How many were murdered with handguns?
How many died of disease? How many died in auto accidents?
Really?

I have a problem with gun crimes (if it's a not a law to make criminals out of the law abiding). Gun violence is not bad in and of itself. If the violence stops a violent crime why is it a problem? Notice they list gun violence being the problem in the headlines and then sight gun crime in the story.

It's also unhealthy to be shot at, and not be able to return fire...

Virtually every illegal shooting in Minneapolis is drug or gang related. The CAUSE is not the gun.
But these folks have an agenda and won't talk about "Gang or Drug" violence.

There's a few domestics, too.

Yes. That's why I said "virtually."
BTW, all the shooting deaths that these folks are complaining about are, IIRC, drug AND gang related. That IS the North Minneapolis social problem and it is localized.

Unfortunately, their reaction to inner-city violence is to push for more gun control laws, which does nothing but punish law abiding citizens.
